Easter Fun…

Motherwell Shopping Centre’s Easter celebrations got off to a cracking start with X Factor runner up Nicholas McDonald wowing hundreds of fans as he headlined a free two-hour concert on a specially erected stage at the Motherwell Shopping Centre North car park entrance.

After singing a full set Nicholas praised the fans who defied heavy showers to cheer him on, telling them: “I can’t thank you enough for coming out to support me and the other acts.

“I also want to thank everyone who voted and made the X Factor such an incredible experience for me.

“And it’s still going on. I am off to Los Angeles shortly for a recoding session, and I hope you will like the results when they are released”.

Nicholas appeared along with fellow Scottish X Factor stars Emily Middlemas and Red (Nicole Simpson), family entertainers the McDougalls in the show which was compered by Radio Clyde’s Gina McKie.

As he left the stage Nicholas took time to chat to his loyal fans some of whom arrived in Motherwell at 6.00am to be sure of a front row spot for the show.

Then came the highlight of the day for the lucky Motherwell Times readers who won our exclusive competition to meet and chat to their hero.

The Winners included Angie Skeoch, Darci O’Neill, Vicky Wilson, Lea McTavish and Holy Emmerson. Vicky 18 from Bellshill said: “It was magic meeting Nicholas who was really lovely.

“He posed for pictures with me and my mum, and spent ages doing selfies and spending time chatting to all the winners.”

After spending almost an hour with our winners Nicholas was again mobbed as he left the store, signing autographs and posing for selfies with his loyal fans waiting outside.

Earlier Motherwell Shopping Centre’s Good Friday Funday kicked off with the McDougalls and their giant fluffy eared East Bunny Morag handing out 200 chocolate goodies, while almost 100 youngsters took up the centre’s offer of free face painting.

Centre Manager Geraldine ElMasrour said: “The Fun Day marked the start of a cracking Easter Weekend for the centre and our retailers

“I was really delighted that so many of our loyal shoppers joined Nicholas’ army of fans and were obviously having the time of their lives cheering him on”.
