Live Music Event a Success

SOUNDMINDS took to Motherwell Shopping Centre on Saturday 3 October with a range of musical activities to promote positive mental health.

Clare Adamson MSP opened the event, which offered over 200 shoppers the chance to try instruments, listen to live music and share their views about mental health.

Organiser, John Gray, said:

“The Soundminds event was a massive success for everyone involved, we had an amazing team of young volunteers from Reeltime Music who delivered activities throughout the day, four local musical acts who put on an exciting show and members of the public who were happy to get involved and let us know their opinions on mental health.

“We are delighted to have been part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival and with the help of Clare Adamson MSP and the staff of Motherwell Shopping Centre, the Soundminds team hope we have raised awareness about the stigma surrounding mental health issues.”

Soundminds has been hosting events in Lanarkshire since 2009, and this was the second year the event had been held in the shopping centre.
