Job Description: Part Time Security Officer

Purpose of the job:      To provide exceptional levels of service in Motherwell Shopping Centre and responsible for supporting colleagues, client staff and other site based personnel

To provide clear and timely communication to all within the centre on key issues that affect the business operation and customer service delivery.

Ensure that the interests of Motherwell Shopping Centre, their Guests and retailers are fully protected at all times and conduct yourself accordingly, as their representative

Responsible to:           Security Supervisor

Job overview

Responsible for working as part of the Centre Security Team that include;

  1. All common and public areas of the shopping centre and car park
  2. Adherence to laid down procedures (Emergency and evacuation)
  3. Health safety & welfare of colleagues and the general public
  4. Reporting of Incidents

Key Duties

  • To understand and follow Assignment Instructions and ensure SLA requirements are delivered to the client
  • Ensure all incidents are logged, recorded and escalated as appropriate
  • Liaise and build relationships with retailers providing support with any reasonable request.
  • Provide a visible presence in support of Customer enquiries
  • Adhere to all required site standards including: timekeeping, uniform standards, personal hygiene, health & safety, and ensuring customer service levels are maintained at all times
  • Responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure environment to the public, contractors, retailers, suppliers and staff
  • To open/close and secure the premises as required.
  • To secure, protect, and maintain all client and company equipment
  • Thorough patrol checks as per company procedures
  • Ensure you maintain your licensable status as legally required and updating the company with any changes
  • Undertake any training as necessary and support any company initiatives which are designed to achieve the company business objectives
  • To develop and maintain good working relations local agencies and emergency services
  • Any other reasonable request from management or the client

Skills & Knowledge

  • Relevant industry experience while not essential is preferred, although it is expected that the candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the environment and able to provide high levels of customer service.
  • Has the ability to contribute toward a teams operation or can work on his own initiative
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly at all levels within the organisation
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of all processes and procedures
  • A skilful communicator who is capable of resolving queries
  • Excellent report-writing with attention to detail
  • A positive attitude to dealing with people and taking on challenges

  • Excellent oral communicator
  • Strong written skills for reports to incidents/accidents
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, to liaise with the public, retailers and the management team

Working Hours

Sunday 12:00 – 17:00
Monday 11:00 – 16:30
Tuesday 11:00 – 16:30
